With over 4,000 species of cockroaches worldwide, it can be hard to identify which one you're dealing with. Why do I have cockroaches?

When they invade a home, all cockroach species are looking for three main things: food, water, and shelter. And shelter also includes a place to breed. Cockroaches most commonly invade homes through cracks or gaps found in the exterior foundation. They have even been known to use utility networks beneath the ground to gain access to and travel between older row homes. Once inside, it only takes a brief amount of time for a cockroach infestation to get out of hand.

Are cockroaches dangerous?

Yes, cockroaches are connected to several illnesses and other health problems. They are known carriers of viral and bacterial pathogens which they transport into homes and deposit into food items and across food prep areas while scavenging for a meal. Some of the health problems they can cause include Salmonella poisoning, diarrhea, dysentery, and even asthma attacks.
